Kamala Harris Rally Feels The Vybe
On Friday, September 13, 2024, DJ Vybe had the pleasure and honor to join the Harris Campaign Rally at Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania as DJ and hype-man prior to the guest speaker line-up.
The list of rally speakers included republicans crossing party lines to put country over politics as well as Pennsylvania’s own, Governor Josh Shapiro, Pennsylvania Senator Bob Casey, Wilkes-Barre Mayor George Brown, and of course the Vice-President herself, Kamala Harris.
It was an awesome evening of excitement as Pennsylvania-Americans from all walks of life came together rallying to get out the vote with just 50 days to go until election day. DJ Vybe, a New Yorker (I), energized the more than 4,100 attendees with a flow of easy listening as voters filled in to capacity– then he turned up the crowd for an additional 45 minutes with a blend of music hits from Beyonce to Taylor Swift, from Temptations and Motown to Janelle Monae and Bad Bunny. He had the Harris-Walz supporters singing along, chanting some of the campaigns favorite phrases, and more. He also took a stroll through the audience where he received lots of love following the DJ performance.
“I can’t wait to support Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz again for future rallies, and if I’m lucky and blessed… a Presidential Inaugural Ball” as DJ Vybe stated on social media. But he also later added for the blogosphere- “It’s not about starstruck emotions or any of that crap. It’s simply about understanding the moment and the arc of history that is about to be written by our country. President Biden wrote his own arc in history, a great one, 1000%. But because of the “emotional state” of the country caused by pandemic aftermath, the country couldn’t feel it. We were dead in the water and taking on water; President Biden patched the hole while a new ship sailed out for us. [No one can feel good about being afloat but unable to get home at sea, right?] The new ship to bring us home with President Harris is just miles away and coming over the horizon, and yes, the new Captain said were gonna stop in Jamaica and a few other vacation spots on the way back, metaphorically speaking of course. This next President (Harris) is going to do really amazing and great things because the field will be leveled to get more done. I am excited, humbled, and in awe, that I was able to contribute in a small part of history-in-the-making while being able to enjoy it.
And for the record, the plug for a Presidential Inauguration Ball would be a honor to say the least, and what DJ wouldn’t want that gig. But I want to do it because I’m worried about the other DJs that might be on the short list as well that may screw it up with twerk music and less than classy lyrics that might cause embarrassment the President and the country more than anything. Kamala Harris is our girl– make sure they continue to put some damn #respect on her name!
