Top 150? DJ Vybe Should Be Considered THE Top DJ in America!
Top 150? DJ Vybe should be considered THE top DJ in America! From the beginning of this process, I knew that DJ Vybe was the only choice for our wedding and he did not disappoint. He was consistent in contact with me throughout the process, mixed songs as I asked, and was extremely thorough throughout everything. On the evening of the wedding, not only did DJ Vybe keep people on the dance floor with his awesome music, but he came over and checked on me to find out if I needed anything (and let my five year old have the mic as well). He is not only a phenomenal DJ, he is an awesome person as well. My guests have been contacting me all day in awe of the selection of music by the DJ. I will definitely recommend DJ Vybe to anyone seeking a DJ. Thank you for making our wedding memorable.

DJ Vybe was an awesome DJ who we used for our daughters sweet sixteen party. He was incredibly organized and made it so easy to get all the music organized for introductions the candle lighting, etc. He did a great job engaging the crowd and really kept the party going. The kids all had a great time dancing and stayed until the last note played. Can’t ask for more than that from a DJ!

DJ Vybe did an amazing job for our party. Weather conditions were not the best but he made everyone forget about it. He felt the crowd and adjusted on the fly. Sure there are cheaper DJs available. But you get what you pay for. Vybe was great.
Community Fair & Immigration Event @ John Jay University
My organization recently hired DJ Vybe for a community resource fair at a large University here in the city. DJ Vybe was extremely professional and very responsive to e-mails, phone calls and even text. Our fair goers were from diverse backgrounds and he was able to cater to his audience successfully. At one point in the event I was tasked with creating questions to facilitate a raffle. After the first question I was so busy with managing things, and I had given him four bags to give away. He jumped in and provided questions to keep the fun going. I was extremely grateful for his assertive and helpful nature. Thank you so much DJ Vybe for helping to make our Community Resource fair a big success. I would definitely recommend his services!

Wedding Didn’t Miss A Beat…Passaic, NJ
With such a short lead up to the celebration of my son’s wedding that had already occurred DJ Vybe didn’t miss a beat. We had so much going on, some added/ changed last minute……he introduced us all into the room, the traditional wedding dances, the Matron of Honor, Best Man and parents speeches and a big surprise announcement, then having a band play a short set….and he went seamlessly into the party music keeping the dance floor full until the lights were turned on signaling it was time to go….no one wanted to leave! DJ Vybe will be our “go to” DJ/MC for any events in the future. He handled the short lead in and everything we threw at him without a glitch. Thank you DJ Vybe for helping to make the party such a great success!!!

He played crowd pleasing music, spanning the generations, while keeping a use full of 7th graders happy and entertained. It was a seamless event and a truly joyous affair. 21st Birthday Party @ Yale
DJ Vybe helped make my daughter’s 21st bday a success! I am in the West Coast planning my daughter’s bday who attends college in the East Coast. Needless to say, it was a stressful project coordinating venue, food, decor, deliveries, guest list from 3000 miles away… however, after touching base w DJ Vybe, I knew right away he was legit and the music & entertainment was something I didn’t have to stress over! He was quick to answer all of my questions, he was flexible with the timing of submitting the desired play list and he was very punctual and professional. All the guests had a great time and my daughter danced the whole night! We highly recommend DJ Vybe! And we’ll keep his contact info for future events! Thank you, DJ Vybe! Well done! 🙂
Corporate Gala for Pratt Whitney / United Technologies Inc.
We had a stellar experience with DJ Vybe. We hold this event every winter and DJ Vybe was the best DJ we have ever had. He got the room dancing from beginning to end. We booked him far in advance with no worries that months in between booking and the gala. He continually touched base via email and phone to ask questions and assure me that we were on track. I would highly recommend him for your event. Even on a snowy night he made it from New York and back and his services defined the event. DJ Vybe was the best DJ we have ever used at a corporate function. He was polite, punctual, a great professional to work with and so reasonably priced. Would only use HIM for our next gathering. We booked months in advance and he stayed in touch via emails and phone calls to make sure we received the best service possible. He fit our needs perfectly.

Couple’s Desires Differ From Mother of the Bride
I hesitate to leave a less than positive review, but to be honest DJ Vybe left a lot to be desired when it comes to our wedding experience. To begin , before the event getting in touch with him was off putting. He made you feel like it was a bother to him and even asked not to contact him he will contact you when he is ready. At the event his energy was lackluster and had very little interaction with the guests. He wouldn’t even take requests. Perhaps it was an off night for him, but when it is your special event it’s disappointing.
Response from DJ Vybe
Sorry you felt my performance was less than 5 stars, but thanks for the review just the same (Laurie is a parent of the bride, not the couple themselves) I only mention that because she stated “when it’s your special event” maybe confusing readers she was the bride, and sometimes parental desires do not align with the couple’s desires. For wedding bookings, I default and uphold the couple’s desires regardless of who found me or who’s paying–after all it is their wedding day. I only had 2 quick chats with Laurie (3/14 & 5/6), after that I was put in contact with the couple to ensure their wedding was as they desired in September. I had many discussions about the timeline and script with them. They desired rock, country and pop from the 90s era thru 2024 and the energy level they desired was fun but formal (not club off the rails energy). Paul & Ashley, were very happy, and others were enthusiastically giving me kudos throughout the evening and the end of night.
The planned dance sets between formalities were a total of 2 hours and 15 minutes hours. But the open floor toast ate into that first set by 30 minutes leaving me with 1hr 45 minutes of dance total. The couple’s song request list was 53 songs, even with quick transitions that’s still 90+ minutes of the dance set. I squeezed in maybe 4 or 5 guest requests into that, as time wouldn’t allow for much else. I do realize some guests would have desired some 70s / 80s, but (a) it wasn’t within the genres chosen and (b) time wasn’t on our side to go outside the songs requested.
Addressing your other review points:
I am not sure why you feel as though it was difficult to contact me or off putting. According to my call logs we had 7 calls between us early on, 2 of which were back to back early morning calls and the only 2 calls unanswered. I called you back less than 90 minutes later. All our text exchanges were in the same time period as well. There was no attempt to contact me besides those times by yourself. Maybe you found my email “autoresponder” to be off putting because it asks “if you are sending an email about A B C or D, there is no need to call me or send me more emails to ask if I got the email. This autoresponder is proof I got the email. I will contact you 2-3 weeks out to review the timeline draft prepared.” I find it necessary due to amount of volume and duplication people tend to bombard my inbox with. But I will review the autoresponder to see if I can improve the language.
As far as request, I did accept requests (except someone’s request for “lots of Motown & 70s”). I had to shut down requests 30 minutes before the night ended in order to get to the remaining of the couple’s requests played. It was the 4 or 5 mentioned earlier, the other few requests I got were already on the couple’s list. Again the energy was as the the couple desired on the planner. I checked with them at least 4 times throughout the evening. They were happy and expressed “You’re doing great DJ Vybe, do your thing”. All in all it was a great time and my social media clips from this wedding will support that.

Bridezilla From Ronkonkoma, NY
Beware!! A few weeks prior to our wedding, DJ Vybe called to say it would be an additional charge to play music for guests who arrived early to the ceremony. This charge was not mentioned in our early conversations before booking nor was included in our contract. This was a very greedy and inconsiderate to do to a couple just two weeks before our wedding. On the actual wedding day, he was late to start playing the recessional music resulting in an awkward 30 seconds of silence at the alter. His excuse to my husband? “I didn’t hear her.” (Impossible, she was using a microphone for the entire ceremony.)
He played our first dance song, Ribbon in the Sky, as guests walked into the reception hall. He was aware this was our first dance song from the questionnaire he had us fill out weeks prior. When our wedding planner mentioned this blunder, he shrugged it off and said “But it was the remix.”
We requested the reception playlist he intended on using for our wedding. DJ said he doesn’t give out playlists/track-lists but that we can make any song requests on the day of. Two days before the wedding we asked to change our Reception entrance song to which he said he “can’t make any changes to the playlist.” What DJ can’t amend his own playlist? We asked for a variety of hits from back in the day and new age to be played during the reception, however, DJ only played old r&b with a few random pop songs thrown in. He didn’t cater the music to us as a couple or even try to adjust the selections based on songs we included on the questionnaire.
Book at your own risk.
Response from DJ Vybe
Hi Danielle, it was a pleasure being your DJ of choice! Your cousins were hi-fiving me all night, and your family, had nothing but good things to rave about during and on the way out, and I had a great time as well.
I wish to clarify and address your concerns in the order written…
Yes I called you 2 weeks before the wedding, as I do with all formal event bookings to finalize the timeline and script for your wedding day. I mentioned during that conversation that your booking’s ceremony was only contracted for 30 minutes, starting music at the beginning of the ceremony, yet your returned questionnaire had checked-off that you wanted prelude music for the ceremony, and I explained that would be additional time adding $75 to the balance. You were ok with it and approved. However on the night of your wedding your husband stated he never approved of that nor was he aware of the extra. After a few minutes of back & forth, I opted to avoid the argument and forget about the additional owed — which by your own above statement it was communicated and understood. I can only hope this wasn’t a deliberate act to avoid paying the balance in full.
As for the brief delay at the ceremony; what I said to your husband was that the officiant didn’t end the ceremony as normally done throwing me off. Normally, after the bride and groom kiss, the couple is then turned to the crowd and the officiant will present the newlywed couple to the families with something like “ladies and gentle I present Mr. & Mrs. John Doe” (this would be my cue for the music and crowds cue to cheer). However, your officiant, after saying “you may kiss your bride”, awkwardly moved herself and the microphone to the side saying nothing. The room as a whole wasn’t sure if that was the end, and your husband turning to her and asking the officiant “are we done” only reinforces that. But I do apologize.
The Ribbon In The Sky Remix song play was my error totally, and I did apologize for that oversight when arranging your dinner playlist in preparation. But it honestly wasn’t the “horrific blunder” you were making it out to be, as communicated to me via your wedding planner. And I guess I may have shrugged my shoulders with the wedding planner, but not as an act of disrespect or lack of caring — it just seemed like a small thing to focus on at the moment when: 75% of the guests weren’t in the room yet when it played, things overall were running 35+ minutes behind schedule due to the ceremony late start and kitchen running behind on salad course. But again my apologies.
As for requesting of the playlist, this is correct, I do not provide a text version of my playlists, this is for several reasons: (a) it is impossible to identify what I will play exactly. If an event is 4 hours long the playlist I use will cover about 12-16 hours of music. So you end up with (b) a playlist where 60% of the music won’t be played, (c) there’s no guarantee I will play strictly from that playlist rather than freestyle from my library of 160K songs, as I am paid to read the crowd, and (d) the export from my DJ software of the playlist is not friendly to the eyes for easy reading of it, it literally looks like gibberish.
I also re-explained what is written in my contract and the booking email, that all song requests must be sent 30 days in advance of the event, or they (meaning only bride & groom since they stated “take no requests”) can request songs on the spot, if I have it I will play it. There’s nothing unreasonable about this.
2 days before the wedding you did request a change to the script intro song via the wedding planner, and I accommodated that change confirmed via email, and explained there could be no more script changes because I was already out on the road DJing 2 other events prior to your Sunday wedding, which is not unreasonable. I told her I would not be in a position to read nor react to more desired changes while on the road as I won’t be checking email. Again the change isn’t about a song, it is about the script that you and the wedding planner reviewed and approved 2 weeks before the wedding.
As for overall music play…on your paperwork you requested “(Dinner: Slow Jams, 90s thru 2020 R&B & Pop), (Dancing: 90s thru 2020s Hip-Hop, Twerk, Mainstream Pop, Reggae and Bachata)”. However, at the reception you sent your maid of honor over to tell me to change it up to mostly 90s R&B, which I did. I gave you what you asked, and dancing I evenly split the 3 decades. Your crowd and wedding was jumping and live with old and new music all night, and if you play back the tape you’ll see nearly every song I played during dinner had everyone singing along at the seats, standing or bar, especially the ladies. I will admit that I stopped playing bachata because no one was feeling it, which is not really that unusual with a 95% African-American crowd. There were several requests for Calypso, which I kindly declined because of the “take no request” rule you checked off; I tried to find the wedding planner quickly to get it approved thru you, but I discovered she left before the wedding was over and you weren’t visible, either.
My apologies again that you feel I didn’t meet your expectations. I try to give my best to everyone.
COVID Restricted Sweet 16
The music selection was good. Everyone danced to everything. However, the DJ was a bit standoffish and of the requests made by my guests, only one song was played. The party was amazing all in all.
Response from DJ Vybe
Thanks for the good but perplexing review, Yvette — I only wish we could’ve dialogued about these concerns 1 of the several times during the evening that I checked in with you. My apologies that I didn’t score 5 stars with you, which is unusual considering the amazing feedback your guests gave, the many business cards people took, and the generous gratuity your husband gave.
To clarify with some insight, I was easily flexible with the last minute venue change to use a venue that would allow dancing and accommodate the larger than lawfully permitted crowd. But upon arrival I noticed we were in a smaller, tighter space without proper social distancing; then the owner directed me to not play music loudly to avoid encourage dancing, as they were nervous about losing their liquor license, per November’s COVID order. These 2 things coupled together caused me to be concerned and less engaging than normal, or as you put it “standoff-ish”.
I received 5 songs requests the entire night, 3 of them I played, the other 2 were African songs, which I do not carry, nor was it a genre you requested on the booking agreement. Not sure how fair it is to knock off 2 stars for a genre I never stated I offer nor received advanced request for. I was also a little taken back that guests that were making the requests were approaching close-contact without wearing a mask or something. It would seem that my concerns were justified due to the fact that you called me 5 days afterwards to inform me that a guest there did test positive for COVID.
This COVID stuff is a new thing that we are all trying to do our best navigate safely. And as a DJ I have to be ten times as cautious to make sure that I am not the cause of the viral spread, getting it at an event this week and then carrying it to another the following week. But as you said, “all the guests had a great time and the party was amazing all in all with people dancing the night away”. It was a pleasure to play your daughter’s Sweet 16 and delivering on the Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, Reggaeton and Hip-Hop.
Inappropriately Ratchet Sweet 16 in New Haven
DJ Vybe overall did a good job but I felt he could of done better with listening to what the kids wanted. The music selection was limited which left the kids unhappy. They didn’t hear any of the music they were into because he didn’t have it so that left me with a room full of unhappy teenagers. But, he is a very nice person and he was a pleasure to meet!
Response from DJ Vybe
Thanks for the review, Natausha. I thought we reached an understanding of what was going on for your daughter’s party. After voicing a concern about the music, I asked you to stand beside me while I demonstrated that the issue was NOT the music. I played 4 tracks, 2 of them the same; clean version then dirty version, next track clean then dirty. The kids would only dance to dirty and explicit song lyrics in Hip Hop, Twerk and Reggae — they were basically interested in a freak off type of party more like a strip club. Prior to the event you expressed that you wanted clean lyrics, nothing crazy. Well, teenagers coming to her party had something different in mind – which is bound to happen for a publicly advertised Sweet 16 party.
I’ll admit for me as a DJ playing really dirty and sexual lyrics for a party comprised of 11 to 16 year olds made me uncomfortable. Kids lacked self control and respect for the adults that were there. Totally ghetto hood.
